I have no idea whats going on

ok so my 7 month old nosy be looks stressed. Hes drinking and eating. I feel his cage is too small. he is in a 20" x 20" by 42" with a large schflerra in side. He has his basking colors on when hes in the lower parts of the cage. The ambient temp is 75 and basking is around 85. I feed him crickets, supers, wax and silk worms. he eats from my hand and drinks from the leaves when I spray but is always a dark green and some brown showing. When I take him out of the cage he turns his nice colors especially when I took him outside today. When I go to put him back he doesn't want to go back in the cage and when he doesn go back in he spends his time climbing the screen looking for a way out. He looks greenish brown. Im getting worried.

I wonder if you are misinterpreting his "stress color" a little. He's at an age when his hormones are raging and he may also be transitioning into mature coloration. He may be distracted thinking he wants to patrol his territory or look for a female. If he's eating, drinking, basking as usual he may not be all that stressed. When you say his "basking colors" what do you mean? That he's dark on just one side or the other? That he's dark all over? I am not very familiar with the variations in Nose Be male coloration so maybe I am off here. When you say he turns his "nice colors" when you handle him, remember that what we think of as nice coloration is actually moderate stress (stimulation or excitement) coloration.

How high up is his cage? Can he see any other pets or animals from his cage? Has anything around the cage changed (level of activity, possible reflections of himself, is he directly near a window with a view of trees)?
