well i finally figured whats wrong with her its a respiratory infection and well i think its too late i scheduled her a app for a vet and well she isnt moving alot she is sleeping now its early and when i mist usually she runs but now just sits there and takes it like she has given up i am very upset i really wanted to be a good cham owner for her and i failed :'(

I'm so sorry about your cham... Hopefully she will pull through for you, but if she doesn't, it's sad, but it doesn't make you a failure. Is she your first cham? Idk if you have posted the how to ask for help form, but maybe post it (or again if you already have). I'm so sorry, watching them with RI's is awful, especially when you think they have given up..

Just know that you have done what you can for her, and hopefully the vet will be able to help and she will get better.

yesh she is my first cham i went to hell and back tryinh to give her what she needs i was just not prepared as i needed to beand ive postged alot i origianlly thought it was a hunger strike but i starting seeing more symptoms of her respiratory like she has sticky spit not ating only drinks water and the vet is booked untill next monday cuz of the holidays so i think she wont last right now ik its not good but she has a heat bulb on at night because it gets way too cold in my house at night and she gets her phoenix worms friday i hope they help atleast a little till i can get her to the vet

:(
Sounds like a rough time.
Maybe hold off on misting for now? If she needs water use a syringe? I'm not an expert as I have not dealt with RI before. Hopefully someone will pop in with better advice.
Is she eating?
If she was falling asleep early she could have just tuckered out early? I've had a cham do that before. An hour before lights go out, or do you mean early in the afternoon?

no she hasnt ate in four days why im freaking i used to give her crickets mainly she got tired of those so i gave her meal worms as a last resort and she wont eat those she seems very weak now and i have ordered phoenix worms that will arrive friday so it could really boost her now im worried she wont eat at all

Keep her warm, and I am talking raise her Basking temp about 5 above normal, and keep it like that all night. Don't drop the temp, she needs the heat. Dripping will be better than spraying. Spraying may make her cold. Just try to make sure you keep her warm and hydrated. I hope you don't lose her but if you do, you join most of the rest of us who were not ready and our chams paid the price. All you can do is learn and go on. If you failed so did I and a lot of other "good" keepers.

I have had a girl with an RI and it was treated with Baytril, so until you get her to the vet (assuming she survives till your appt. time), do as Laurie said and keep her warm and for hydration, drips from a syringe onto her nose are best. Be patient though, it may take a while for her to drink - and then she may not open her mouth but instead you'll see her throat making swallowing motions. Please know that your cham can go without food for while, but not without water, so don't freak out that she's not eating and keep her hydrated.

One of the most important things I have learned when nursing a sick chameleon - positive thoughts go a LONG way in the healing process, so don't give up on her yet!! My little girl survived pneumonia when her entire left lung and her right lung was partially infected. She may surprise you! Fingers crossed!

i had no idea to keep her warmer at night thank you so much her light is staying on her nightbulb that is and i hope she pulls through and what is baytril???

1.not eating
2.her saliva is a lil bit sticky

the only thing is she is not coughing or wheezing just the 1st two that ive seen

Baytril is a medication used to treat RI's. In fact, it is quite the wonder drug as I've also had it prescribed for an eye infection AND a kidney infection. :D

I will note, when my gal had pneumonia she DID NOT have sticky or thick saliva. She had a heavy, raspy breath, and quite often was taking big, deep breathe's to get the air 'in'. Basically what I'm saying is, don't 'assume' its an RI as the symptoms are not always the same, cham to cham.

Again, good luck!

where can i get baytril

Unfortunately Baytril is a prescribed medication that is prescribed according to the application it is required for therefore, I don't think you'll be able to find it anywhere, except in a veterinarian's office. However, having said that I do know that my dog/cat vet prescribes it so if you can't get to a reptile vet, perhaps you can visit a regular vet and see if they can advise/prescribe you on the Baytril?

Worth a shot, if you can't get to a reptile vet til Monday.

don't give up- I am dealing with a nightmare right now- and have been for 12 days now, and she is still hanging in there - we went to the vet today- she is on fortaz now- but do what Lauri said, :D, also, I hung a heating pad on the out side of the cage so she also has side heat, she snuggles right in by it, but dont put it to hot- I use the med setting, also - you can try pedialyte, but cut it 1 to 1 is what I did - by all rights she should have died days ago- at the vet we found out she still has severe URI, but also a broken jaw, and bone infection - but I had her on bytril - but it just did not work,, so she is changed to the fortaz - I even asked the vet if treating her would be to hard on her, and if maybe putting her down was more humane, but she said if she has fought this long, and is not in great pain, she felt we can try, but she also is going in every 3 days for the next week to be sure she is improving- but I have been feeding her via drop by drop 7 drops of bug juice, 12 drops water/pedialyte every 3 hrs for almost 2 weeks - this is what I have tried, and she is my 2nd cham, another rescue, (my first was also a rescue, but only lived 5 days )and every Am I get up, so scared to look in on her- but there she is , still fighting - and I also had a very hard time getting a vet apt- I had to wait a week, and thought for sure there is no way she would make it that long, but she did :) I am very new to chams, so I can only offer you what I have done- I wish you the best of luck , and will add your little cham in my prayers :)

Iv given my bearded dragons treimicyn when they were sick just to hold off tell i took them to the vet, and iv used it for an eyeinfection on my chameleon. You can get it easy enuff, idk ask some other members what they think but it might be able of keep her alive and her infection from spreding tell monday!

glad shes ok. My Lill ones had a RI before aswell! its scary if you dont catch it quick enough his coughing got worse so my boyfreind took him to the vets we got told to raise him temp and basically cook him bless him! we had to use an injection with some sort of powder and medical mixture in his mouth for nearly 2 weeks! was a pain in the bum he didnt like it! but hes better now, good luck with yours :)
