How many inches of substrate?

My female panther chameleon is starting to dig 29 days after mating. How deep should the substrate be in the laying bucket? She has dug about 5 diffrent holes in moist dirt but she keeps abondoning the holes. I am not disturbing her. Im thinking shes just not ready yet.

She may dig several days worth of test holes-I always use a mix of sand and coconut fiber at least 10" deep.

Well i got back home today and found the female alot thinner and I soon uncovered 16 eggs. Thanks for the reply !
