When the gravid female lay her eggs, does the tunnel can be seen easily? Or they dig and then cover the hole?

They dig then cover the hole. This usually takes all day, even 2 days if she doesn't like the first hole. You will see her all dirty and skinny. They are usually gravid for about 30 days + or -.
