Hornworm (Hawk) moth drinking

I got a decent pic of one of my moths drinking form the humming bird feeder this morning. I added it to part 4 of my hornworm blog. I have a video as well, but it is taking too long to upload to you tube so I will link that later.

Oh I know they are huge. I've seen a few in the wild and many people mistake them for humming birds.

Never fed those as food before and wondered what those blue worms were. How do you gutload the worms?

Quick question: what do you feed them before they pupate? and do you put them in dirt before they pupate? how do i know if they are ready to pupate? cause i put mine in the dirt for couple days now and i also put some veggie in the dirt, but they didnt eat it and just kept moving around... Thanks

My blog has a picture of what the worms look like when they are ready to pupate. They start to get lighter and you can see a vein pulsing on their back. They tend to roam around for a couple days before finally pupating. I just keep putting them in the dirt if they crawl out. I feed mine the horn worm chow until they pupate.

You can feed them the commercially available chow, or gutload them w just about any type of green, carrots, red bell pepper etc,

How come mine doesn't eat the veggie? but before i put them in the dirt i fed them with horn worm chow, is that why they dont eat the veggie?

You can keep hornworms off of regular greens? Not just mulberry leaves?

They have eaten pretty much any green I have offered. I don't raise them on greens though. I feed them the chow and just gutload a day before w veggies if I get a chance.
