Samson makes a little "pfft" sound too. It started not too long after he came into my care, I never really thought anything of it until one day I saw water droplets spray out of his nose a few hours after the last misting. I observed his happen over the course of a week and I started to worry in the back of my mind. A few weeks later he was starting to get a little sluggish and that "pfft" was occuring.....maybe once every 2 hoursish give or take some 15 mins.
I started him on a 10 day regime of Rept-Aid making sure to follow the directions closely only using Silk worms instead. It has been 5 days since his last dose and his apatite is big ( he ate 10 crickets and counting today so far....2 are left to face their fates) and the little "pfft" has calmed down and I don't see water drops out his nose. The only thing not normal at this point are his poo's
I personally really have no clue if he had/has the beginnings of an RI I am not a vet nor feel that the vet is necessary at this point, but he seems to really perked up and "feel better" as he wasn't moving around as much the past month or so.
You said you saw some sticky stuff and such in her mouth? Then if I were you I might actually send her back to the vendor (which would be the best option at your point, since she is so new and Scremealeons has an awesome service) to where you could either get a new one or I think I would have them check up yours and see if she is healthy because I'm the kind of person who would want to get the same one back.
Good luck though either way you roll.
