Here's my two cents. Obviously the leg is swollen. If your sure it's not mbd, the next logical conclusion is gout. The catch 22 on this is gout is caused by a build up of uric acid. Uric acid is the by product of protein break down that is secreted in the urine. If you are experiencing increased uric acid levels, the kidneys are not functioning properly. Over time, uric acid will deposit in other organs causing multi-organ failure which will lead to death. Common factors of decreased kidney function, I believe pretty much everyone is aware of are: chronic low level dehydration, dehydration, dietary insufficiencies, feeding insectivores too much protein. Blood levels will show where the uric acid is at as well as the shape of the kidneys. Be sure to ask for these tests as well as others the vet may suggest. And yes, uric acid in the joints is indeed very painful. Ask anyone you know with gout!! Good luck.

And please don't let the vet do nothing but put him on Baytril "just in case".
what do you mean buy this? make him give it to him or not?

Just that if the vet prescribes Baytril, let it be for a specific reason, to counteract a specific infection the vet discovers during examination. Not just as a "catch-all".

It was recommended to us by someone we used to buy crickets from that you gutload them with chicken feed. Easy enough to do, and cheap at the feed store. But it is too high in protein and can/will cause gout in chameleons who eat the crickets on a regular basis. Just thought I would add that here, for anyone who may be interested. For gutload, buy either commercial products recommended for chameleon feeders, or make your own based on an approved chameleon-friendly recipe.

Oops sorry for the double post. I should have combined this comment with my last post.

well i found a vet and he makes house calls he is comeing tonight around 5!
wastgate is still in the same shape, he dint eat today but maybe latter i will let you guys know how it gose

i talked to the vet lastnight for a hour or so and he seems to know alot about chams so its cool i cant wait for him to get here

well i have to say this guy was so cool he was at my house for 6hrs and was so overly impresed with my guys.he is come ing back on monday to do blood work . we did a float and did see a small amount of cocida but nothing elis, he thinks it is gout or a infetion i will no more when the blood work is done.

he also look at one of my buddys pinks and did a float and found pin worms and gave panacur for it but i was not sure if that was ok i think i read somplace that it was bad for them is this true?

I'm glad that the vet seemed to be familiar with chameleons. Panacur is normally used for the treatment of hookworms and pin worms in chameleons......I'm no sure what a "pink" is????? Did he tell you that coccidia is contagious? You will need to do a special cleaning with peroxide and steam cleaning. Keep this guy away from all your other chams. I'll give you a link for a new drug that's good for treatment of coccidia.
