so a while back maybe 2 months ago i was worried that my panther chameleon Skittles could have had an RI infection so I too him to the vet and she said that he was healthy and dint see anything and since then I've had no worries and he has been perfect but just now this morning I heard almost like a chirp noise it was some sort of cough or snort. I haven't heard that noise from him before so i went over to his cage and checked on him and he had his heard raised which i know is somethings chameleons usually do when they have an RI infection. What would you do? should i let him be and see how he is the next few days and go from there? also what is the treatment for a RI infection? I'm not sure what could have caused one if that is the case, I have plenty of air flow in the room and he always has his humidity up.

Too high of humidity can cause this or having the cage too damp all the time from misting and dripping water. Humidity creates bacteria and mold spores. The treatment is an antibiotic called Baytril. That is usually what is prescribed.

thanks, do you think i should just keep an eye on him and see if it was just a one time thing?

All chams may puff out their throat or make a squeaky noise once in a while. If he does this most of the time, sits dark and still under his basking light most of the day, stops eating or drinking, is not reacting to activity around his cage, shows a lot of sticky saliva around his mouth, or sits with his head tipped straight up and mouth open (not while basking), these are signs of an ongoing respiratory infection.
