help with plants

I live in nj and its pretty cold at night like 30f and all the tropical plants died at my nursery. Is there any plant I could use that would still be alive? I need a plant other than pothos. Don't really like them and I got one anyway. Any type of fern? I believe she said they have Boston ferns but found nothing about them.

I had always thought Bostons were poisonous, but the interweb says otherwise. I like schefflera and I think they are supposed to be pretty tolerant to just about anything. You can buy small ones at Walmart as well.

There are a lot of good ones out there. A little search on the forums will give you several options.

Hibiscus is good, but requires a lot of full spectrum light, and moderately high temps, not to mention a decent amount of pruning.

Many succulents are good, but they don't have much height. Calico Cat is a draping vine type succulent which makes a nice hanging plant for an enclosure.
