Is that as swollen as it looks in the picture? It almost looks like a hernia. There are actual vets and vet techs who post here so hopefully one of them will have a better idea.

it looked like that to me as well, it has now recessed and looks totally normal.
maybe im just freaking out but i want to make sure

Maybe he pulled a muscle under his arm and it puffed up? They do some pretty spectacular "fall and catch" stunts sometimes. I find it a miracle they aren't one big bundle of pulled muscles.

well he is now roaming around his cage, he doesnt act as if something is bothering him. as far as i can tell:confused:

Its possible it was a cyst that drained itself
If hes back to normal now, I would jsut keep an eye on it, if it happens again, go to the vet.

maybe they are not home from work, cooking supper for their families, tending to their own chams. They will be here. :D

i was watching him and i noticed that when he stayed stretched out over a period of five minutes it looked like his arm pit got fatter.

It sounds to me like it is a hernia type of situation. I don't really have a suggestion for you other than considering taking him to a vet.

You're very welcome.

I wish I could help more but I'd really just be inventing possibilities. I think you need a more expert opinion. I do know that hernias can be very serious and if that's what it is, a vet is probably your best vet.

I agree, if when he stretches the arm out the pit gets bigger, and seems to fill up again, then it may be a hernia, in which case, a vet would be needed.
now the vet may say it is not that serious and it will heal on its own (as thye say alot for umbilical hernias for dogs) but some are more serious and require surgery to close it.

IMAG0008.jpg I have a female Nosy Be and when I first got her she would bulge out little pouches near where her arm pits would be. Vet gave her a clean bill of health but didn't know exactly what the bulges were from. He speculated it was either some sort of internal air sack or possibly fatty deposits. I've had the female for about a year now and she's totally healthy.

I would get it looked at. I cant imagine what would herniate in the axillary region (armpit) but who knows. Does it continue to "re-fill" when he stretches his arm? I was leaning more toward abscess or cyst until you said it seems to fill up when he stretches his arm. A fatty hernia?? I would get it looked at. lol
