Soak his bum in cold sugar water. Desolve as much sugar in the water as you can. Do you have KY gel? The plain kind. Put the KY on it after your have soak for a while and try to push it back in. If you don’t think you can try to get it in yourself or if you can’t get it in then keep it moist and get him to a qualified vet ASAP. Do you have a good chameleon vet already? If not tell me where you live and I’ll try to refer one.

I checked your profile and see you live in Myrtle Beach. There’s a good chameleon vet in Mt. Pleasent. That’s probably going to be your closest one. They are good with surgery and everything there. Give them a call and see if they have emergency hours. Here’s a list of SC reptile vets and the one in Mt. Pleasent’s contact info is on the list.

Thank you! I am in such a panic.. called out of work tonight and everything. running to the store to get KY immediately!! I am having a hard time finding the vet. I found one but the specialist isn't in until 9:30 and its emergency hours. (ouch my pocket!) I live in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

That looks like it’s goin to be a bad one if you don’t see him poop or eat it’s worse. I would go straight for the vet if not you have a chance of it getting infected then it’s very hard to keep inside usually the vet will put it back in then put a couple stitches in to hold it in to attach back. It might be a chance it’s parasite related I would definitely try to get him to see a vet ASAP. Keep it hydrated and moist until you get him seen use clean bottle water if possible to cut down the risk of infection. My panther chameleon had a prolapse and it got infected from trying sugar water and messing with it I went to the vet 2 times the first they put it in and stitched it up it got so infected within that 24 hours of him doing that it pushed back out. I went back and a veterinarian was nice enough to put it back in and stitched it again for free but That didn’t work either so I looked up information and talked to my vet and pushed it back in and got it to stay but I still had the antibiotics, anti inflammatory, and parasite medicine that was already giving a full week of so that definitely helped with putting it back in myself. You need medicine but mine was able to poop if he wasn’t able to poop they would of put him down as sad as that sounds. It can go from bad to worse really quick though I would plan on goin to the vet soon

Thank you for your response. We are at the emergency vet right now. We tried water and sugar water with no luck. It only got bigger and went from opaque to translucent. My heart is breaking and we are only assuming the worse. Unfortunately unable to shell out big bucks Which I know this will end up costing at an emergency after hours vet. There is a huge chance we will be putting her down.

O I’m sorry. You are at least lucky you made it to the vet it’s verry painful for them to pass away through a prolapse you are a better person then most for even seeing the vet and not just letting her pass away horribly. How long did you have her and how old is she?

We just got her in February. It would have been 3 months next week. I know it was such a short time but I got so attached. I’m pretty sure she hated me but it was a love/hate relationship.

Any updates?
Update: after spending 4 hours at the emergency vet last night we sent her to surgery. We went to grab a bite to eat while waiting for her and when the dr called she said “pascal is done, awake, and crawling everywhere!” My heart <3! She was such a trooper. We went home and went to sleep. They put her all back together. It was an intestinal prolapse. They think it was caused by parasites from where she was bred. She is a petsmart baby. So now she has to take a dewormer along with some other medications and I have to put mineral oil on a cricket for her to help with passing. But now the problem I’m running into is she’s pretty upset she doesn’t want to move much she hasn’t eaten her food yet today she refuses to eat anything that doesn’t move in the mineral oil instantly kills the cricket. She won’t open her mouth for the syringe to take her medication. She’s being as stubborn as she possibly can be and she’s turning a pretty dark color so I can tell she’s not happy with any of it. I don’t know what to do now ..

You did the right thing taking her to the vet. Once we take on a pet it’s our responsibility to take the best care of them that we can even if we are short on money. I’m really glad to hear that she made it through surgery. She is probably very sore. Did the vet give her anything for pain? If it were me, I’d hold off and the mineral oil for a day or 2 and just try to get the antibiotic in her and pain meds. I’d also try a different feeder that she’s not use to to see if she might go for that. If you can get her to open her mouth for a worm then you can slide in the syringe with the meds. I put all the meds in one syringe so you don’t have to open the mouth more than once.

I know it. I appreciate the advice and will have to try that. As far as combing that medications, they're premeasured in their own syringes so that might be a little hard. But great idea luring her with a feeder. shes also shedding right now so shes double not happy.
