unfortunately, I was miss informed from my vet about the dosage of D3 to give to my baby chameleons. I have been giving it to them everyday for the last 2 months or maybe 3...There are now 6 months old and their back legs are starting to get immobile as of about a day or two ago. I am really worried, I have been misting their cage frequently and trying to flush their system to save them. the back half (legs and tail) are a darker color then the rest.

What can I do to help them? is it too late?? they were fine a week ago and now all the sudden it seems to be affecting them.

Please help, I am scared I might loose these little guys :(

I am soo sorry to hear about this. i would cut the d3 completely out and get them to a more qalified vet if possible other the that i dont know what to say again it sucks they are sick.
Can you post pics of them? and how many are like that?

I am going through this right now with my adult veiled chameleon =( He also has kidney failure, but unfortunately from what I know working at a vet kidney failure is irreversible and fatal :( How long they have is up to you. Your babies may be able to pull through but I don't think my guy can hold on much longer. Treatment for kidney failure is injectable fluids and in cats vitamin b injection, but you would have to talk to a highly qualified reptile vet for an exam, tests, and treatment.

If you can tell us where you live we can try to help you find a well qualified vet

I am sorry to hear about your problem. Could the chameleon's problem be caused by other issues? You should question all aspects of husbandry. I would agree that D3 every day is way too much.

Didn't you start another thread about these same chams a day or so ago? If they have been overdosed I don't think you can do much besides stopping the supplementation and hoping their systems can eliminate it over time.

What type of chameleon?
how did you confirm that the leg problems are related to supplements/liver?
what brand of d3 supplement? what other supplements are you using (be specific on brand and frequency/amount)
what insects/bugs have you been providing? what do those bugs eat?
do you use UVB bulbs? are the chams outside at all?
in what ways do you provide water?
at what temp do you keep them?
can you post photos?

cease providing supplements for now, and provide plenty of water (dripper and frequent spray misting)
