Help my chameleon is in trouble!

About two days ago, she closed her eyes. And is walking around like she is blind. I noticed that she has been rubing her eyes upon the sticks in her cage. I am extremely worried someone please help me.

spray water on the eye sitha spray bottle for 5 min. is it a veiled? this always happens to veileds. they get sleep in their eyes ha ha ha

info about my chameleon

She is a veiled, about 2 months old. I have a her in a sceen cage about 24 by 24 square inches, I have a basking light and tube light non flucient. She has many sticks and plastic plants for clover. I feed her 3 large crickets a day with vitiam and calcuim upon them. I mist her cage with water about three times a day. Her cage is high and away from my other animals. But her eyes are closed and she is acting very strange. She has just got done shedding about four days ago and this started happening. We called pet stores but they no help.

OK-please explain the lighting-I don't understand.

A 2 month old should not be eating large crickets, but about 10-15 small ones daily.

I have a florscent tube light that lays across the top of her cage. And a basking light that is clipped to the side of her cage. I turn the basking light at night around 7pm and i just told yesterday that i should be turning the tube light off at night as well. But we just started that last night. But her eyes are still closed.

Her basking light is on all day and on the tube light it say reptile. She stopped eating yesterday, but she was drinking yesterday. I am not sure of the temp. Could that be a part of the problem.

what percentage uvb is the light? chameleons need 5.0 or their eyes will damage, i would take the uvb light off

The UBV light says F15 - T8 BP Super UV daylight. What should we replace it with? We turned the UBV light off.

Does it actually say UVB-I am suspecting now that your problem is temps-temp need to be low 80's-babies will cook themselves and eyes closing CAN (not sure here about the diagnosis folks) mean dehydration. You NEED to know what your temps are.

Never heard of that, if it does not say a percentage then its too strong, i have literally seen iguanas burn to death under uv thats too strong. Get a zoomed 5.0 repti-sun or an exo-terra 5.0 uvb

Yes it say UBV on it. So can i have that light you suggested plus the basking light. What should i do in the mean time? Someone said it was the casue of stress? Could that be it as well? And how do fix that? How do i de-stress her?

She will de-stress on her own once you have the appropriate lighting and temperatures and the issue is fixed (if that is the issue).

Yes, you NEED the basking light and a 5.0 UVB light on for about 12 hours each day. I have a cheap timer that mine are on so that I dont forget.

In the meantime, I would go directly to a local pet store and purchase the correct light for her.


How is she getting water? Just curious.

Ok-get a digital thermometer-did that bulb come with the fixture? Doyou know the name of the fixure if so? I am thinking your UVB is fine, but your basking temps may be too high. If your house is in the mid 70's, just turn off the basking bulb until you get the thermometer-which should cost you less than $10.00. Stress can do it also, leave her alone except to mist her until she adjusts.
Is the room exceptionally dusty or are there things being sprayed near her?

I bet you have that Slim-line fixture? I just checked the bulb that came with mine and it said the same thing as you posted above. It is fine for now-just replace it this week with a Reptisun 5.0 18" bulb or a Reptiglow-same size.

The two uvb bulbs i listed above in my previous response. It can say uvb but it will still be too strong
