Help? Gravid or no?

If she is showing dark coloration with bright dark peachy markings and rejecting the male then she is likely gravid.

IMHO you should have an opaque container of washed playsand in her cage so you won't miss the sometimes subtle indications that she needs to lay eggs. The minimum size for this container...when empty she should fit into it with a couple of inches of space on all sides including above and below her. It should be filled about 3/4 full of the moisten sand. I recommend that a container like this should be placed in every sexually mature egglaying chameleon's cage.

If she sees you watching her while she is digging, it will likely make her abandon the hole and if it happens often enough, she can become eggbound.

Generally when a female panther is mated the eggs should be laid within 35 days as was already explained to you. It might be possible to lay for a few days longer than this...but eventually the "window" will close and she won't be able to lay them.

You asked..."how can you tell a chameleon is egg bound before its too late"...some signs are lethargy, sitting low in the cage, eyes shut during the day. Some will even dig a hole and fill it in as though they laid eggs.

sinisterchameleon23 asked..."hold old are they when this accurs(veiled)"...it can occur when a veiled is a young as 4 months sometimes...but a veiled female can go her whole life without ever producing an egg depending somewhat on the husbandry.

If those pictures are recent she is not gravid. It sounds like you've been stressing her out...

2. Trying to introduce a male (I won't even go into WHY you are breeding crosses and where you plan on getting rid of them)---------CROSSES ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL AND I KNOO PLACES THAT WILL BUY THEM I DONT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SELLING THEM I ALREADY HAVE PEOPLE AND PLACES THAT WANT THEM AS SOON AS THEY BREED
3. Putting her in a bucket for no reason------I WAS TOLD BY A FEW PEOPLE TO TRY THIS METHOD
4. Any other disturbance (like trying to handfeed all the time, you constantly being in view of the chameleon, constantly trying to handle, etc...)--------SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN HAND FED AND I THINK IS QUITE COMFORTABLE WITH IT SHE CANT SEE ANY OTHER CHAMELEONS AND LIKE I SAID RARELY HANDLED

Oh! I apologize I was just speaking from EXPERIENCE, but it sounds like you have a lot of that . You never answered my question though, WHY do you think she is gravid?

TODD--------I just havent ever seen her act the way she has been. she got ALOT fatter and more round plus i saw on steve irwin that panthers are "pink" when ready to mate and "orange" when gravid. how can i tell for sure she is gravid? i never said i have had experience i just have read ALOT and talked to people i have NO hands on experience on dealing with gravid females. i keep reptiles but never chameleons. i want to do things correct and stuff i dont kno. i have pretty much just spent like $700 for my chameleons and want to do everything perfect plus i got some fouf by two by two foot cages for both of them so they can have more space. i called around before i bought a female too see if people would buy morph crosses and most people will by me i have a few pet stores that will buy all the babies for 100-200 per baby thanks Todd

Did you put the container I described in the cage with her?

I put a hibicus plant in a large pot with soil/sand mix for her to lay eggs plus i got a new cage that i put eight inches of soil/sand mix in one corner by the hibiscus she has been hiding at the top of the cage in the hibiscus plant and is REALLY light colored idk whats going on ( the pot is roomy and is 12'' deep and has a diameter of 12'' ) is that okay???
