Help from a pet store

I was in a local petsmart today and the manager who talks with us often asked for my advice on a female Jackson chameleon they got in a few months ago, she eats very well he says. The vet has given her several different meds for a skin condition and a swollen eye that won't go away. Any advice to pass along will b greatly appreciated. This store does not sell chameleons at all she is just a mascot in the office away from the public

Ask about there supplementing schedual. temps humidity. Or ask the manager to join here. Eye issues usually result from an infection or vitiman A issue. I'm no expert.

I think this would be best, no need to middle-man info to the store just get them here that way the forums can get info directly from and to them, and if any future problems and concerns come up it can be dealt with.

I'd love for them to do it but the guy I talk with there doesn't have the time and the other employers are young and have no clue about chameleons at all nor do they really care I was asked as kind of a last resort because the vets in my area are clueless when it comes to any reptiles especially chameleons. So I'm giving this a shot in hopes for some ideas. I thought the vitamin A deficiency also so I told him to feed her kale and sweet potatoes since they're higher in A than carrots. She was already treated for an eye infection but it never seemed to go away. They have been giving her vitamin supplements every other day. I told to stop and only do it twice a month but continue with the "calcium only" dust every feeding. I also said to get rid of the moss and dirt flooring and remove the fountain and use a drip system with a cup. She's been this way for almost two months now and shedded about a month ago

Thats sad. Its bad enough petsmart sells animals that dont get great care. But to choose to keep one as a pet as well and still not put the right effort in.

is shes a jackson i thought they can live in those humid cages in glass too?

Yes she's a Jackson and they do need high humidity but also 360 degree air flow but my problem is the substrate can get swallows accidentally when she grabs a cricket an impact her digestive system and the fountain is just a breeding ground for bacteria and disease

I know I said the same thing!! But at least they knew I had a small amount of experience an asked so I figured to see what feedback I got. When they received her she was already in crappy condition so she has improved somewhat and the skin spots have decreased as well but the eye infection won't go away. She does get calcium and is under proper UVB lighting so I'm pretty sure it's not MBD

That looks like burns or some sort of fungal infection. Can you get the 'how to ask for help' for to him? Like write it on a pad and write his answers. If you did that folks could maybe help more

Yes I can do that..how do I get to the questionnaire? I've only been on the forum a week and am still learning my way around

Print off the ask for help page and have them fill it out as best as possible and post it.
