This is my first post. I'm glad I just found this resource as I have just inherited my first chameleon. I have been reading as much as possible over the last few days to learn what I need to know. Proper care and quality of life for my chameleon is my top priority.

After a few days of trying to figure out what kind of chameleon he was I was sure that he was a panther. But after finding some more photos, I think he might be a rudis. are rudis chameleons more rare than panthers? is it unlikely that I have one?

I will be posting photos as soon as I have them.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice. I'm sure I will be learning a lot more from the knowledgable folks on this forum.

I'm not sure if the black coloring is caused by stress or temperature or both. when he is at rest in his cage he is all light green with the yellow stripe on his side.

I'm not sure exactly how old he is. I have no information on where he came from. He belonged to a friend that passed away. I am definately taking the chameleon crash course these last few days.

I have no clue what he is although I do know he is really cute. You are a good friend for taking him in and you are in the right place to learn everything needed to give him a great life. :)

Thanks. There is so much scattered information on the web that I've been trying to sort through. I'm very happy I found this forum.

might be a jackson's female, but could be something else. maybe a Bradypodium or Chameleo Hoenhnlii. anyways welcome to the forum! im sure youll find tons of information! and im sure some one else will come along and tell you for sure what species it is!

just wondering.. you did not pay Panther chameleon's price for your rudis, did you?
and, like others have said, rudis requirement is definitely different than panther or veiled.
got to say, you have a lot of things to do and to research...
Rudis' care is a bit tough.. that is why i don't see Rudis as a starter species.

Are you Colorado Chameleon people in some sort of a Chameleon commune up in them thar Colorado hills??
