Heat lovin jackson?

Almost everywhere i have looked tells me to provide basking but that they wont use it much. My jacksons is under there quite often. Using a 40 watt standard house bulb. Any issue there.

Of course a jax would use a basking spot! All chams need to bask to warm themselves up for the day depending on the low temps the night before. Jax may not bask as long or as often as sun-loving species but they certainly do bask. Now if you use a higher watt bulb they may avoid it more. Always safer to err on the lower side just in case. Basking a little longer under a cooler light isn't a big problem.

That's not a problem
I'll catch my Jacksons under the lights for quite some time on some days, and other days when it's a bit warmer I catch them sitting under the dripper.

Well ya i am aware they need one and need to bask, just wanting to know about the long periods of basking thats all. He seems to like to go back and forth between the basking light and the side of the screen that is near the window, where he turns dark black and then hangs in the bush for a while fairly bright green and then back to the light. he spends most of that time in the basking.

What are your temps, both directly under the basking light and in the surrounding areas of the cage? If the area around the cage is a lot cooler he's just thermoregulating himself. You don't need to create a uniform temp everywhere, just give him the chance to bask enough to digest his food and to roam his territory each day. Sounds pretty normal and again it is better to be a bit too cool than too hot.

The cool side is around 75 but using a cheap zoo med plastic duel temp/hum gauge so dont know how reliable it is. I just had it already from a python cage. To be honest havent had a chance to get one for the hot side so i just placed the heat lamp at an angle facing out the side of the screen, to be safe. I have a cool mist humidifier running on the cool side and mist very frequently. humidity between 55 and 70 live in AZ not too much humidity out here.
