Hey everyone today i was misting leon's cage and i opened the door and he went to the top and climbed out, i cant hold him because ive only had him a week and he just runs away (thankfully no puffing up) just running, how can i hold him, or get him into his cage?

You can use a stick, and let him climb onto it. Or you can try with your hand and see how he reacts.

we put a stick next to him and he actually puffed up at him, like i said when i put my hand by him he runs to the top of the cage.

This has happened to me before with a Cham that will seriously murder people. Ok.. look for gloves around your house. Preferrably thick ones. But any will do. Just in case he bites, it might make you feel more secure anyways. My Cham was not pleased with me picking him up but I was so worried because he was literally right next to his heat lamp. It got to the point where I just said screw it and grabbed him quickly.. instinct. If he is small, it won't be a huge deal if he bites you. You can try to distract him with one hand, while slowly moving the other under him. But in my situation, that is an hour long process. By the end me and my animal are stressed out and ready to cry. Lol. He is really difficult. I'm not sure if your Chameleon is difficult or you are just worried that he might bite. Even though Bodhi has gotten very close to biting me, it hasn't happened yet. I would just say to do it. Just find it in yourself to grab him. Especially if he could be in any kind of danger. But the most common method is to distract, go from underneath their body, and move slowly. It just depends on the situation. Try non't be scared. I'm still scared of my male Veiled, especially now that he is 8 months old. Your Cham is much smaller than you and he is scared too. But you can't really get around this situation. You could also try to bait him back into his cage somehow. Maybe food or treats. If you have any worms, have a coupLe ready and give him a worm one by one leading back into his cage. Just a thought.

Sorry but I have to ask.
What does having him for a week have to do with not holding him?
Puffing up is pretty normal anyway. :)

No he im not afraid he is going to bite, but i dont want him to hate me forever, he pretty difficult, now hes on the back of the cage which is facing the wall so no way of getting him, ill have to wait some more

By the way.. Every time my Veiled Gets out, the way I get him back in is different everytime. So look around you and improvise. Try using a fake plant for him to climb on. Sticks don't work for mr. I have shaky hands and he sees the stick moving and thinks it's going to kill him. But try sticks, plants, or somethin laying around your house. It might take a lot of patients on your part, but if you keep trying something will work. The bad part is that he is out of his cage. He has plenty of places to run to. As opposed to his enclosed space where it is easier to do something like this.

I've never tried this but it might work. Try to put a towel or hand towel down right by where he is sitting. That way.. I'd he walks on it you can just pick it up and put it into his cage. It might be better because if he panics and tries to run off he won't hit the ground. Wouldn't hurt to try it or use it as a back up. You could lay it down and then move your stick on the other side of it. So he will have two directions to go, the stick or the towel. That will definitely up your chances.

Wait it out for a but and see where he goes. You can always change the direction he's facing. You kid of learn every way in the book when you have a difficult Cham for a while. The fact that he is by a wall is actually a good thing. That is one less direction he can run. Try the towel and stick/plant thing. Wait it out and see I'd he moves. If not go to him and try to scare him in one of those directions. Keep updating and let us know what's going on. We'll get this little bugger eventually. Haha.

lol, we finally got him back in. We took his cage and put it on the ground and we put a fake plant next to him and he climbed onto it. I put my finger under him, and he actually held on for a good 30 seconds it was the coolest thing ever, then he ran onto the stick back into his cage. Thnx for all the help:D

oh i meant that like ive only had him for a week and hes not used to me so ive never held him. So if he doesnt puff up its not normal? Because he doesnt puff up towards us

Lol! It kind of sounds like every idea worked. Haha! I'm glad you got to see what it's like to hold one.. even if it was for 30 seconds. It was months before Bodhi ever climbed on me, and that's because I was holding his feeder cup. Now I don't want him to climb on me ever! He's humongous and only 8 months old. Sometimes he startles me even when he isn't puffing up. Enjoy him while he's little. They can disappear in a heartbeat if you aren't paying attention. I'm sure you learned your lesson. ;)

Lets just hope he stays calm, but puffing would be okay because it means he is alert and is reacting to a bigger creature(protecting itself). Remember, it would be like KING KONG walking around us and going in for a grab every now and then. I might get a little puffy if that happened. :)

Carefully

Distract him with one hand and slide the other one under his front legs and neck. Once your under him he should chill out and grab hold. You can always mist him into a trance and scoop him up.
