Everytime I reach into his cage when Kink is hanging from the ceiling, he lets go and falls... is that normal?

fyi, Hes a male veiled, 2 months old. and no he doesnt have mbd. his grip is fine. i think hes doing it out of fear, but just want to be sure.

I don't think it's "normal" but I don't think it's something to worry about, his reaction atleast. I'm sure all he is doing is trying to get away from you as you said and is more of a reaction he has. I would try and put lots and lots of plants so that he has no room to fall all the way to the bottom and hurt himself. At the same time maybe putting a folded towel at the bottom so that it cushions his fall in case it happens again. :)

Hes got 2 bushy pothos and 2 full schefflera in there, so he cant hit the floor. i think hes just scared,

my chameleon did this also, he is a veiled, i think its just a way of gettin away from a "predator" just there only defence is all.

Happened to me once, I had my little Cleopatra out for her weekly weigh in and she decided I was really scary so he took a leap of faith right out of my hand..........................and into my sock drawer. Phew!

Maybe she wasn't trying to get away she might have wanted to pair up.hehehe

My Male veiled does this on a regularity ! When he sees my hand coming towards him he just faints! Crazy dude, now that he is bigger he just hisses and heads for the hills!:D

yea, i dont plan on trying to get him out when hes on the ceiling anymore. Just wanted to make sure it was a defensive thing.

i know my baby veiled did that once and so did my panther pandora. when you put them back put them on the ground and let the climb up on the vines them selfs they both took a fall when i tried putting them on their favorite perch so i can speak from experience. lolz!!!

hes done this dead drop a couple times.... sigh, oh well.
I normally do, there is a stick right at the door so i put him on it at the bottom and let him do his own thing. Hopefully he will get better... guess I won't go in his cage when hes on the ceiling (which is like all the time cept for when he is stalking, lol) and eventually he will be too big to hang from the ceiling anyway!
