I finally hatched hawk moths and it squirted a yellow liquid from its behind, is it still safe for my chams to eat the moth.

And...now you know why I gave up raising hornworms. Really disgusting, and it smells, too. Cham loved them , though :)

Wait until the ones that did not pupate start to send up clouds of phorid flies..

That explains the new smell in my garage 😂😂😂 After about two weeks of pupating I go through the dirt and remove and dead guys. It makes for a more successful process.

If they were safe beforehand, I don't see why they wouldn't be. Same substance was/is there—it's just a question of whether it's inside or outside of the moth/larva. IOW, it could have squirted out as your cham was in the process of gnomming.
