Harmful bugs/plants outside?

I recently brought my cham and his cage outside to give it a quick cleaning. I let him crawl around on some of the plants in my backyard, until I noticed him shooting at some insects. I saw that he was going for a spider so I got him off of there.

Are there any plants that I should keep him away from? Would it be ok to let him eat the insects he finds on the plants? I only saw a few spiders and some ants.

I would keep him away from tomato plants, and any plant you arent sure of.
Its not the plants so much you have to be wary of, so much as some of the bugs.

NEVER let him eat lady bugs, They are toxic.

Monarch butterflies are as well.

Any brightly colored bug, try to stay away from (bright colors= sometimes equals toxic).

praying mantis are good.

dull colored moths are typically ok.

the only issue with wild bugs is they sometimes have parasite.s

Around this time there's fireflies, don't let him at any of those. Basically, I'd get an outside cage if you can't watch him every minute. In one second he could be snatched by a bird or eat a toxic bug.
