Hanging upside down

I have a 5 month old Veiled. I've had him for a month now. Yesterday in Sacramento we had a 90+ degree day so I decided to take him outside for a bit.

I walked outside with him in my hand and as soon as he felt the sunshine he stopped squarming around. It looked like he really, really liked the sunshine. We hung out for a bit outside and took some pictures. After I took him back inside he crawled to the top of his cage and hung upside down right under the UV light.

(We have a heat lamp but its been turned off since its already 85 in his cage. I do turn in on each morning though)

He hung upside down for a while. I was worried he couldnt get back down... it was the first time I've seen him upside down. I took him off and put him in the bottom of his cage but he crawled right back up to hang upside down under the UV light. I left him alone for the rest of the night after that. He seemed to like it.

Do you think his hanging upside down under the UV light is connected to going outside and getting sunshine for the first time? It was a really nice day.

In a coupe weeks i'm going to build him an outdoor cage too.

Thanks!

Adam

btw, his hame is Rodney Dangerfield.... but we give him respect. :)

Just saying, you have to have a cool down spot for him! Thats really hot for him. Atleast have a place thats about 72-75.

I don't know many people that have a 72-75 cool off area of the cage at least not in the summer. My house is set at 76 at night and 78 during the day and unless I run a room ac just for my chams it's not going to get cooler than that. In the summer my electric bills mainly for ac already can run $500+

Hi Adam I'm in Sacramento also! Sounds like your little guy had a taste of the outdoors and wants more! They love the stimulation.

I have my panthers and veild outside 24/7 right now and they are living it up. May be you could set his cage outside in the am?

It is going to be super hot the next few days so if he is out make sure he is in the shade and has access to water constantly. I also mist my guys ALOT to keep them cool.

I love his name!
