Handling Orion

Hey guys, i just wanted to ask a quick question.

I started cup feeding Orion when he was 3 months old when he became less twitchy.

Now at 4+ months I lure him to my hand with a cup, let him eat while he is on my hand. When he is finished he will climb down my hand to my leg and go back to his cage on his own.

It is so pleasing to hold him that i do it almost every day.

Should i stop with this practice?

If your cham does this comfortably and without stress then it's a really good way to get him used to you :) just don't be disappointed if he changes his view on this when he hits his terrible teens.

Totlly agree with Angie. It's good to get him used to you and being out of his cage some as long as he's not being stressed by it. But it sounds like your doing everything right. It just takes time and mountains of patience. And yes they can all the sudden one day look at you as if they've never seen you before and go running for cover under leaves. That's part of the fun of having these crazy lil guys as pets!!

No worries, just continue exactly what you are doing since it obviously is working.
Just always be gentle and slow, and always let him have his way ;)

My Smeagol has become surprissingly tame and even affectionate!! esp for a veiled!!

He is a "teenager" now, at 7 months old.

With gentle handling and hand feeding every day, they can get very tame indeed.

awesome, good to hear that :)

some days he wont be up for it so i just let him eat from his feeder cup.
But 95% of the time he has no problem running up my hand to get his face stuffed :)

Yeah man you got it down just keep on with the exact same routine everyday and it will most likely continue without hesitation. My new nosy bè that's only 4 months old an I just got a week ago will already handfeed from me. He won't step up onto my finger yet but he doesn't run and he loves having his crix delivered to him lol
