Gut Loading!!!

Anyone wannabe give me some great stuff to gut load my roaches, crickets, and hirnedworms? :) Thanks in advance!

I don't really gut load my crickets or roaches. I do feed them Harrison's high potency fine, oranges, mangos, and bananas, and carrots for moisture.

I feel that if I feed them quality foods and produce I don't really have to gut load them.

Good luck,

That is exactly what gutloading is. ;)

I think that a lot of reptile owners view gut loading as something you do just before feeding. Never made any sense to me. It also doesn't make sense to feed some of the crap they sell in pet shops.

Hell my feeder insects eat better than I do most of the time.

;-)

I use various veggies (arugula, dandelion greens, carrots, bell peppers, butternut squash etc) and also oranges and apples. I also use a food processor to chop up nuts like sunflower seeds. I also give roaches some oats. I sprinkle on top w either repashy super load or Dino fuel (I alternate between the two).

I used to do the food processor shuffle. Thats why I use Harrison's Its Organic and has lots of good things in it.

Mine do as well! Gutloading is the process of feeding the insects with the nutrition that your chameleon (or other insectivore pet) needs to use the bugs to deliver the good nutritional content. And good produce should be the staple imo. Whether they eat it all the time or just before feedings, as long as they're getting it so it will benefit the chams!

The Basics of Gutloading

I used to make cricket salad with my food processor and fresh fruits and veggies, but that job got old.
Now I use Repashy bug burger and throw in a piece of kale, orange, apple, whatever I have available at the time.

The bug burger already has everything in it.

I use Repashy's Bug Burger as well. You can use this for hornworms, but their color may not stay the same as if using hornworm or silkworm chow. I also offer my crickets some greens and veggies with Dino-fuel dusted on them. Just change out the unused stuff often so you do not have issues with your feeders. As for the gutloading, I do try to have the gutload available for the feeders at least 12 hours before I feed my cham. I do not only gutload the ones to be immediately fed, but I am not dealing with massive amounts of feeders either. I guess that could get costly .

I also have used bug burger it works great. I also got lazy and stopped with that and the water crystals, now I just use romaine lettuce and Cricket crack on the side.

Ok, was just about to ask what Gutloading was in comparison to providing great foods for my feeders at all times. My crickets ALWAYS have fresh foods, veggies, fruits and a powdered gutload mix, not just a few hours before feeding. I don't know that I could give them any better. Is that a good habit?

Me too, I just feed that diet all the time.
