I couldn't resist! I love this guy. He's a small species and an insectivore, which is a bonus. I was planning to get a green tree boa, but I wasn't sure if I'd feel intimidated by the size. This guy is perfect

sweet he looks good. Really an insectivore? i would think little lizards and baby rodents. never heard of a snake eating insects.

yea, they're quite a rarity in that respect. They are completely insectivorous

That's cool. I hope he settles in. I was talking to a boy at the rep centre who owns one, he said that it can be difficult to get them to eat at times & you have to really encourage them. I guess if I put something lively in there, he'll be stimulated to eat it.

Most of them don't tolerate handling well and if they are WC usually have parasites. Do you know for sure it's a male?

I'm not sure on gender to be honest. I don't know how to tell. Do females lay infertile eggs?

I don't plan on handling him often- I go out of my way to buy pets that don't need to be handled because then I don't have to feel guilty about not handling them, if that makes sense.

I've set him up in much the same way as my carpet cham in terms of temp, humidity & cage size. He has a water bowl, but I'm not sure it's necesary since they don't drink from bowls?

When I decided to get a snake i was considering one of these. I ended up settling on a pair of egg eating snakes instead though.

I hope he does well for you! I had the seller probe my snakes (I dont know how and would be afraid of hurting them!)

I've seen that done on TV. They can sex them by the amount they can push the probe into the vent? Sounds uncomfortable to me!

Yeah thats how they do it. I am terribly afraid of what damage I might cause if I did it wrong. I would hate to damage one of my lovely babies!

well, it's been 6 days & as far as I know, he hasn't eaten. I read 4 different care sheets but it wasn't until I joined a forum that I found out my set-up was wrong in many ways- mental note, don't trust care sheets. So we're getting him sorted out tomorrow & finger crossed he'll eat.

I too have my fingers crossed for the little guy. They were on the list of animals I wanted before getting my guys. My LPS told me that while he could get them in, he would recommend against of as they are very difficult to get established.

I kinda regret buying the little guy for that reason Still don't think he's eating & I've had conflicting advice- putting him a small exo-terra will stress him, putting him in a large exo-terra will stress him, etc.

I've done all I can in terms of set-up & I've put him in a quiet room. I'm just going to keep offering a variety of feeders & hope for the best now.
