Good supplement schedule?

Hello, I just recently bought a new 2 month old baby veiled chameleon. I've been feeding him both small roaches and small crickets. My current supplement schedule is...
Calcium w/o d3 4x a week
calcium w/ d3 3x a week
Multivitamin once a week
Is this a sufficient schedule for my chameleon?

Depends on the brand. Most recomend using the d3 less, but as a baby (and if you have a weaker d3 supplement) it can be used often.

I would deffinatly use D3 less. try to use it the 1st and 3rd sunday of the month... and than on the 2nd and 4th sunday use the multivitamin. But as mentioned above depends on the brand of suppliments you are using... I use repti-cal I stick to the above schedule of d3... your regular calcium is good for now when they get older you will cut it down a little bit though...

Hi,

I agree, less D3. your lights will be good enough for D3 production.
so only use it in small amounts about 2 times per month.
same with multi vitamins.

calcium w/o D3 is fine on the other days.

still, gutloading with quality foods is far more important. let's not forget that.

Thanks for all the comments :)! I will start using less d3. As for gutloading I feed both my roaches and crickets lettuce, carrots, and the commercial gut load for crickets,

There is an amazing gutload its called "cricket crack" search it its awesome! but you still want to use collard greens and fruits along with the crack, because nothing compares to the natural stuff =]

Hey I also have another question. Since the cricket diet I feed my crickets for gutloading contains calcium, do I also cut back on that too?

I would like to create a schedule

My overall plan is th have a healthy and happy cham.

I have a Repti-sun 5.0 on the way (early next week). Zippy doesnt arrive for another two or three weeks.

I plan to feed mainly with crickets and an occasional worm for variety (the spice of life).
Zippy is a six month old Panther Ambilobe.

The suppliments I have bought are listed below. I am hoping for some guidence with regards to how often (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) each of these should be given.

Miner-All Calcium/mineral suppliment for Indoor Reptiles (contains D-3)
Miner-All Calcium/mineral suppliment for Outdoor Reptiles (no D-3)
Rep-cal Herptivite with Beta-Carotine
Rep-cal Calcium (no phosphorous & no D-3)

I would like to simply write on one bottle or another "Mondays" for a weekly suppliment, and on another Bi-weekly maybe, "7th & 21st", and so on in order to keep all of it streight.

I want to do this right. I thought that DIRECTLY ASKING rather than interpreting all of the posts is a more secure approach, leaving less room for my own errors, or misunderstandings. There is just soooooo much information here.

this schedule is according to your brand if d3. If you switch brands of calcium with d3 this will change.

Week 1:
mon-Friday: calcium without d3
sat: none
sun: calcium with d3

week 2:
mon-thur: calcium without d3
sat: calcium with d3
sun: vitamins

week 3:
repeat week 1

week 4:
repeat week 2 minus vitamins

As he gets older you can cut back on the plain calcium without d3 to every other feeding, however some members like to use them every feeding but very very lightly as adults.

Can you be more specific?

I have two different brands of non D-3 Calcium.

It looks like Monday thru Thursdays he gets either the Miner-all Calcium outdoor or the Rep-cal, (non phosphor/non D-3) Calcium during weeks #1 & #3, on a daily basis.

On Fridays he gets....

I wrote this all down and tried to :eek::confused:

Does anybody on here have a good schedule (something I can write down and follow)?

You can use either calcium without d3. That schedule is somethig I made specifically for you, I doubt anyone else will do that in a thread, or at least I haven't seen anyone do it but me.

Week one:
mon: calcium without d3
tues: calcium without d3
wed: calcium without d3
thurs: calcium without d3
fri: calcium without d3
sat: nothing
sun: calcium with d3

week two:
mon: calcium without d3
tues: calcium without d3
wed: calcium without d3
thurs: calcium without d3
fri: none
sat: calcium with d3
sun: vitamins

week three:
same as week one

week four:
mon: calcium without d3
tues: calcium without d3
wed: calcium without d3
thurs: calcium without d3
fri: none
sat: calcium with d3
sun: none

specific enough?

Ok, thanks Pssh

I wasnt sure if the two D-3 calciums were equivilant or not. From your post it looks like they really are.

I guess now I have a good supply of it. I will need it.

Thanks for the help.

I will copie that, and incorperate it into the feeding schedule.

How many crickets should I dust every day? Would he eat twice a day, or just once?

I plan to cup feed before work and as soon as I get home.

I dust all of my chameleons food very very lightly and he eats about 6-8 large crickets every day in the morning. He is a 4.5-5 month old veiled chameleon. I do the same for my female, but she eats 2 or 3 crickets every day. I don't only use crickets, but that's about the equivalent of what I feed. I only feed them once a day and every now and then I will use a superworm as a treat in the middle of the day.
