Good petco

No actually I didn't. They do not make profit from reptiles at least Pet Co. I don't personally like the company but their profit is from feeders not reptiles. Crickets are sold at .12 cents and bought less then a penny. They sell way more crickets all over the US in Pet co then they could ever make off selling leopard geckos and what ever they have in their 15 display cases. They need to feed and power and change out their animals. They will have the same exact animals in their for year at a time that nobody wants. They are losing money on that animal. Not that it matters because they are making it else where. SO I don't know how you can even figure they make profit off of a chameleon or a gecko at all. Its simply not true. Not to mention now vet care if the animal is sick and or customer points out a flaw in animals. Vet just cost them another $100 on a $50 Lizard. I know How to make money that is Losing money. I also went to school for 4 years in banking and international business. I think I know how they succeed a bit.

Did you just make that figure up jack? 22 percent of a reptile stores $ is from reptiles. its true though that 25 percent is from food and feeders but the remainding 53 percent is from various accessories and housing- I can break it down for you if you like. Its nearly the same with fish stores too. you dont loose money on the animal.

I get you though- there are just as many deficient mom and pop stores as there are good ones. My point is that if you have one you like then you should support it because if you dont- all you have will be the big stores.

Yes the numbers are hypothetical and if you believe there is profit in moving reptiles you are sadly mistaken I beleive its more like 100 % of petco makes more profit off crickets than all their animals in the store. They even told me personally the number is in the millions of dollars from cricket sales. I like to see their animals bring in any sort of profit like that. Just like cat litter food and treats. That is where these stores make money.

I would love to shop locally but they are all horrible

That's petco. They kill the smaller guys by selling the "other things"
What business are you in by the way you sound like an expert!

I own a pet shop!

Im in the business of making money and Im pretty good at it.

enough said then because as far as this and so many other topics are concerned, you can focus on money or principles. People who have only focused on "the business of money" have brought this country to its knees.
People with principles built it and will save it.

I make pretty good money in all the things I do though if someone asked me what I DO I'd be proud to tell them and I sleep pretty good at night. My contribution to this conversation is over.
