Golden Leaf Schefflera???

There are a few of these at the local wal-mart...they look basically the same as arboricola schefflera aside from yellow markings on the leaves, and they have more of a tree trunk look coming out of the ground than a green stem. Anyone know if these are safe or not??

Thanks,
Brandon

The only thing that I found on the plant (same as most Schefflera's) is that it is bad for dogs, cats, and can make humans ill. I could not find anything on chams though.

Well I was wanting a second plant to cycle through my enclosure and I can't seem to find any arboricolas, but they have tons of golden leafs...I was just wondering if they were safe or not...

Can't find golden leaf schefflera on any safe plant list for chameleons. If you can't get arboricola, golden pothos or ficus benjamina would be good alts. One large golden pothos can grow in quickly to fill a 24x24x48" cage if hung.

goldent leaf is not safe. I could only find the arboricola at plant nurseries. None in walmart or home depot or any of those.

See if the plant in your Walmart has a scientific name on it's label. I find at least one variety of S. arboricola that has yellow variegated leaves (a.k.a. the "variegated Hawaiian elf Schefflera"), and this ought to be comparable to the green S. arboricola. Avoid S. actinophylla and other species.

I guess I will just get a pothos, I'd rather not chance it...though I've yet to try my hand at hanging plants.

For hanging plants I use 50 lb test line and attach it horizontally near the top of the cage. Sags a bit when u hang a plant from it, but it gets the job done. You could also use ties/line to attach a dowel in the same spot.

From pictures I've seen, I think the plant I'm talking about is actually a Schefflera Gold Capella...if so, is it safe??
