Giving my chameleon too much attention?

How do I know if I'm giving my chameleon too much attention?

I mean, would he express it if he doesn't? From his body language he seems perfectly content 95 percent of the time.

If your cham is showing calm quieter colors most of the time he's OK. If he is restless, reacts very quickly to you whenever you come close, hides, doesn't eat or drink, or gets more and more defensive he's probably feeling he is being handled or watched too much.

Alright, duly noted. How much does the average cham fight back when you go in after them? Mine only goes a few inches before he decides to climb on my hand. I have a feeling that's normal though

There really isn't an "average". They are very individual; ranging from gaping, inflating, lunging, biting, general fiend, to no reaction at all. Very hard to predict. Sounds like you have a tolerant one!
