Just bought a umbrella plant for my cage what kind of bacteria soap should I use and how do I do it . Do I just spay it on . The other thing is when I repot it with organic soli how much sand should I mix in with it and does it matter what kind of sand andif there is any other info I should know. Thanks Glenn

I just use a 50/50 mix of dish soap and water. Give the plant a good spray from all angles and the underside of the leaves. Let it sit on the leaves for awhile then rinse it off with clean water.

If your using a potting soil chances are it already has some sand in the mix. Add just enough so that the soil isn't clumpy.

What I do is repot with half organic soil and half sand to help with quick drainage. I mix some regular dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray leaves then wash off with a hose.

I wouldn't waste the time repotting unless I was going to a bigger pot. The plants I buy are usually so root bound they need a bigger pot.

I use Dawn dish washing liquid... I figure if it's safe enough to wash the poor oil spill birds and animals it's safe enough for chams!! Just rinse well!!! ;)
