Genetics

Hey everyone. I've got a pretty simple question. I'm sure it's been talked about before, but I've had no luck with the search tool. So I sincerely apologize.

Well I'm trying my hardest to get a blue-bar Ambilobe right now. I'm seriously going to have a mental breakdown if I can't get a definite answer this week. But anyways.. I'm wondering a bit about genetics. Would a place like Kammer's or Screamelons breed a BB female with a BB male? I know you can't really be for sure how a Chameleon will turn out. But if I buy offspring from a BB male, will my Cham likely be a blue bar? I'm trying to make an informed decision on my purchase.

I've been torn between these two breeders and they are both great places. At this point, it's just who has what I need available first. I know they both have very healthy and beautiful Chams. I'm just not sure what I should do. I see plenty of sire's I really like, but Screamers seems to not have as many clutches. I'm going to try and contact Kammers again tomorrow.

I've been waiting for a month (feels like a year) to get everything together for my second Cham. I'm ready to explode. But if you guys have any info on genetics, or experience from your orders would be wonderful. Experience can be a great thing.

The best thing to do is to pick a baby that parents come from bloodlines with the traits you desire. I am going to be getting a faly later in the year and I searched forever. Finally I picked one with the sire bring Ryu and his sire Raiden. The dam's sire is Son of Triton his father Triton. Both sides have parents and grandparents with EXTREME red and white, since that is what I want in my chameleon. Just what I have done. :D

That's great. :D

I'm not sure how I would find out all of that info though. Most of the sites I've seen only list the sire and other examples. They don't say anything about the female or the "Grandchams".

Give the kammers a call they will tell you the females bloodline to the baby your are interested in.

Yea, good breeders will have no problem telling you what the bloodlines are, because they should keep impeccable records of that stuff. So they will be able to tell you that male A has 4 generations of only blue bars, so that is the male you'd probably want to buy from the most. Give them a call or email, they will be more than happy to help.
