Sorry if the title is spelt wrong but my female veiled sits on her 6 fot ficus in the sun with her mouth open. she can get into the shade so what should i do:confused:

Put something like a piece of cardboard over half of the cage.

Chams die of heat stroke pretty easily. You need to rectify this asap.

Lily would do this too. Even though she had shade she would just sit there and gape! Try misting her for a while. Sometimes they will just sit and gape almost enjoying the heat too much to move. They can be so stubborn! Many times I had to physically pick up Lily's cage and move her out of the sun for her own good.:D

I've seen Murray do this too.
When I first got him.

I've read it's to rid excess heat, and that makes sense seeing as he'd only do it when he'd be in his basking spot. His old cage was pretty small, so he couldn't get out of the way of it! I would just try misting. I'm not sure if this is what's going on, but that's my guess. Don't take my word :)
