full term eggs that turned out to be duds

so out of our twenty egg clutch only eight successfully hatched. We were able to assist four of the hatchlings, who are very healthy. but one of the eggs that looked healthy and went full term never even developed an embryo. It was filled with a yellow creamy liquid.... has n e one ever experienced this?

We have with carpet and oustalets. I'm guessing its possible with other species as well. Love to hear more information on the topic.

Yes it can happen. USUALLY dud eggs mold soon after they are laid....but other times that can look perfectly good and not mold at all.

Thats why I candle my eggs to know what to expect. An egg 6 months in incubation that shows just yellow when candled is a dud..like the one you described

It is possible it was never fertile to begin with
