Hello guys and girls!
im jurjen from holland live in almere
and im almost 22 years old! got
reptile cage from my dad the height is 80/50/50
and been looking for all the info i can get about jemens
chameleon realy like them !
bought my lamps already and building my dripper to
so that isnt realy a problem.. just need some advice on feeding
multi vitamins and calcium or what calcium brand is the best to use?
if bought the multi vitamins from exo terra but if saw some info about
there shouldnt be any vitamin d3 in it and E isnt realy good either if
you have a good uvb.. light
and then 1 more qeustion! how many times do you wanna feed
a 4 months old chamelon with vitamins and calcium! thxx already !

As for dusting your feeders repashy calcium plus, it's an all in one dust you use every time you feed! Make sure to gut load too,There are lots of amazing posts on here for that! As far as d3 twice a month is what I do.

Welcome from the U.S! if you have a uvb light you still should supplement your chameleon with a calcium that has d3 in it regardless. Most of us do that twice a month. The multivitamin twice a month and then a calcium witn NO d3 every feeding. You should be feeding your little guy about 15-20 small feeders a day. I don't know what is available in holland as far as feeders. Most of us use crickets and roaches over here and a variety of worms, such as silk, meal, super, phoenix etc.

Welcome to the club!

Advise from Solid snake:

The most recomended dusting schedule:

Plain, straight calcium on all feeders mon-sat
Alternate Multivitamin and calcium with D3 every sun. (twice a month)
or
Repashy calcium plus is an all in one, and can be used everyday

Here is a good link (caresheet) for your veiled!

In addition to that check out my blog for more chameleon info! Check out all my posts for tons of information!

I use Miner-all , and zoo med brand calciums with and without d3.
Id figure 8-10 medium small medium crickets would work. At that age I would feed until it stops shooting;) . Supplementing is a bit tricky as everyone has different situations. Learning how D3 UVB and nutrition work and relate is a big part of caring for these animals as Im trying to still learn the best myself.

Welcome to the forum!
Its good to see that you are doing some research before buying the chameleon!

What UVB light did you get? For basking you can use a regular incandescent household light in a domed hood. The wattage needed is determined by the temperature it produces in the basking area.

Here's some information I hope will help you with supplementing, etc.....
Appropriate cage temperatures aid in digestion and thus play a part indirectly in nutrient absorption.

Exposure to UVB from either direct sunlight or a proper UVB light allows the chameleon to produce D3 so that it can use the calcium in its system to make/keep the bones strong and be used in other systems in the chameleon as well. The UVB should not pass through glass or plastic no matter whether its from the sun or the UVB light. The most often recommended UVB light is the long linear fluorescent Repti-sun 5.0 tube light. Some of the compacts, spirals and tube lights have caused health issues, but so far there have been no bad reports against this one.

A wide variety of insects that have been well fed and gutloaded should be fed to it.

Since many of the feeder insects we use in captivity have a poor ratio of calcium to phosphorus in them, its important to dust the insects just before you feed them to the chameleon at most feedings (I only skip the 4 times a month that I use the other two powders) with a phos.-free calcium powder to help make up for it. (I use Rep-cal phosphorus-free calcium).

If you also dust twice a month with a phos.-free calcium/D3 powder it will ensure that your chameleon gets some D3 without overdoing it. It leaves the chameleon to produce the rest of what it needs through its exposure to the UVB light. D3 from supplements can build up in the system but D3 produced from exposure to UVB shouldn't as long as the chameleon can move in and out of it. (I use Rep-cal phos.-free calcium/D3).

Dusting twice a month as well with a vitamin powder that contains a beta carotene (prOformed) source of vitamin A will ensure that the chameleon gets some vitamins without the danger of overdosing the vitamin A. PrEformed sources of vitamin A can build up in the system and may prevent the D3 from doing its job and push the chameleon towards MBD. However, there is controversy as to whether all/any chameleons can convert the beta carotene and so some people give some prEformed vitamin A once in a while. (I use herptivite which has beta carotene.)

Gutloading/feeding the insects well helps to provide what the chameleon needs. I gutload crickets, roaches, locusts, superworms, etc. with an assortment of greens (dandelions, kale, collards, endive, escarole, mustard greens, etc.) and veggies (carrots, squash, sweet potato, sweet red pepper, zucchini, etc.)

Calcium, phos., D3 and vitamin A are important players in bone health and other systems in the chameleon (muscles, etc.) and they need to be in balance. When trying to balance them, you need to look at the supplements, what you feed the insects and what you feed the chameleon.
Please note that various supplements have various amounts of D3 and vitamin A and so some can be given more often than others. The idea still is not to overdo the fat soluble vitamins like D3 and prEformed vitamin A.

calcium no d3 every day or every feeding. the multi and the calcium with d3 twice a month. You can pick which days you want to use the d3 and the multi.

Just be careful with that 100 watt basking light on a 4 month old. As long as your basking temps are correct those lights should be fine. My temps only allow me to use 60 watts bulbs. Incadescent house bulbs work well for basking lights . They are fairly cheap and found in many wattages.

thx allot for the info guys!
getting my veiled in april just when
im back from my vacation in mexico!
any small things i forget?
or do i require the right things to start
up! thx!!
