Fowl Mouth Rex

This is getting discouraging... So NOW we've noticed that Rex has a very fowl odor coming from his mouth... He isn't eating on his own yet so we opened it up to be a grub in there and wowzer, rotton smell. Any ideas ???????

describe what you are seeing and if you are able to have your fiance take some pics of the inside while to get him to keep his mouth open that would be great.

Mouth rot. If you just got him I would notify the breeder. Animals should not be sold that way. Its going to take a trip to the vet to clear up and that is going to be expensive. You either want to exchange him quickly with the breeder, let the breeder know so they can compensate/take him to the vet now.

Its looks a weird light brown and purplish color. Not so much swollen. Anthony Is trying to get a picture but he's not cooperating (he just had treatment for his burn infection) his saliva is really stringy though.

Sounds a lot like mouth rot to me. No experience with it for chams, but I've delt with it a few times with snakes. Not too fun! Time for a vet visit. MUCH easier to deal with when cault early.

thats what i was worried about, i would definitely get him into the vet so he can get checked out and get antibiotics :) definitely best if you get the antibiotics as quickly as possible!

Okay vet check up the end of the week.. Guess that would explain the missing teeth and not wanting to hunt ..thanks for the pointers guys

poor guy!! i dont know if there is anything you can do to ease the mouth rot for him until then, ill see if i can find anyting for you :) you can try making some bug juice for him if he doesnt want to eat!

Were opening his mouth and dropping food in.. Only way he eats ... We will figure it out.. I hope the antibiotics are fairly good priced. Thanks :)

thats good that he is still willing to chew it up on his own :) i hope so as well! let us know how the visit goes. cant wait till hes all healed up!

Its insane, Rex looks like a big n tough dinosaur yet crickets will hang out on his vine with him .. Then I got my three month veiled who pretty much goes on a masacure when we put crickets in.. I hope that Rex gets up to Pascal's health soon
