First chameleon picky eater

Firstly hello to everyone,

So I bought my first chameleon about 25 days ago and she is a close to 6 month old female now. Now my problem is that even after 25 days she is still very stressed and scared of me. I dont handle her and she has plenty of places to hide at but still she almost instantly turns brown when she sees me. So as you all already know with stres comes irregular feeding. She will only eat about 3-4 roaches a day and only from a bowl. I have been trying to hand feed her but she is just to scared of me. I was wandering how I can lower the amount of stres and get her to eat more? Should I be worried about this? Is it a problem?

My other question is at what age do they start laying infertile clutches and should I be worried about her at 6 months age?

All help is welcomed, cheers delivor! :)

3-4 roaches a day is actually plenty of food. You can squeeze that out to two days. To avoid stress, make sure your husbandry is on point. You can fill out the how to ask for help questionnaire so people on here can give you more critical feedback. Make sure he cage is up high as well so they are above eye level. Good job on the hiding spots, keep researching!

Could you post a pic of your cage set up?

How high is the cage?

Chams tend to feel more secure if they are up higher, looking down on you.

If needed, put the cage on a table or stand, high enough so the basking spot is slightly above your eye level.

Also, your cham is still adjusting to its new home, they dont like changes of any kind.
Be sure not to change anything inside the cage.
Try to leave your cham alone as much as possible, no attempts to handle just yet. Only at feeding time.
Do you have other animals around that your cham can see?

Is she getting a good night's sleep?
Be sure she has total darkness at night. No night lights.

It can take days, or weeks for a cham to fully adjust and feel secure in a new place.

Her cage is on the ground now but every time I interact with her I am sitting on the floor and I cant change that because I dont have a lot of space in my room. I dont handle or peek at her at all she gets a lot of alone time and if I look from a distance she seems to be calm and exploring but if I get too close all she wants to do is hide. I dont hand feed her I leave her food in a food bowl.

She accualy goes to sleep as soon as her lights turn off and she gets atleast 7h of total darkness at night.

Ill post a picure of the cage as soon as I can. My phones camera is not working at the time.

Since she is 6 months old, you also need to get her a lay box.
She may even be gravid now!

Just a container with damp soil/sand about 12'' deep is fine.
But I guess you already know this.

It could be one reason she is acting the way she is.
