first cham, need info and ideas

I can really only use a glass cage (the front would be screen and their would be 1-2 fans to keep air moving). I have a chinchilla in the same room and the humidity in a screen cage would prob. get too high for him.

Then why don't you move one of them???? They can get sick from not enough Humitity.:( That wouldn't be too good.

I cant move the chinny (he dosent like anyone but me, and parents dont want him anywhere but in my room). I will have to ask my parents about keeping the cham somewhere else, is having it in a louder high traffic area bad?

Not really. I am on a hectic road. Mine never seems stressed. Hmm, maybe if you have like a computer room. The humitity should be above 50%.

Welcome to the site Moonstream, Try spending an hour or two every day on these forums for a few weeks before purchasing. They are a wealth of info and will save you money and the life of your cham. I sent you a PM with some of the things you'll need. Good luck. David

thankyou, dectr6, that was very helpful.

unfortionatly I dont think that chams are right for me at this point, maybe in a year or 2, but for now I think skinks, leos, and BDs are prob a better choice.

I will continue to ask questions tho.

If you don't think your ready, don't get one. I wanted one for a couple of years before I decided to do the research and get one. You'll know when your ready. It's a sign of maturity that you realize your limitations for the sake of the animal. David

Does anyone know how to keep the fruit flies at the bottom of a container so they dont go everywhere since i have a screened cage. I heard frui was good but what if the chameleon eats it and chokes by hitting the fruit instead of the fly? I am feedin a baby veiled about 3.5 inches head to tail

Start yourself a seperate thread Ken. You'll get alot more responses that way. Cut the fruit small enough so it won't hurt the cham if he does get some. Veiled eat fruit and veggies also.David

Moonstream, you have made a wise decision. Don't get one if you don't have the time. Chameleons will still be here in a year or 2. You can get one then. Iff you get a lizard now I would suggest a leopard gecko, since budget is an issue. If you can spend som more, get a bearded dragon.

Look at the thread that I created about feeding the crickets. The crickets love it and they get really big!

Yeah, it kind of lulls them into a false sense of security. :)

"Wait a minute...whats that big thing at the on the roof of my house? Harold, where did you go? What the hell is happening?! Run for your life!
zzzzziiiiipppp!!!!
