Fired up!

I was wondering, when do chameleons fire up other than seeing a mate? Can you do something to fire him up? My chameleon is weird i think he gets fired up when he is sleeping is this normal?

They usually display really nice colors when they're asleep, since they aren't really bothered at the time when they're asleep. They could maybe fire up if you put them in front of a mirror. It'll turn them really vibrant or really dark. It stimulates them. I wouldn't do this, honestly. Sunlight makes their colors look better because they all love the sun :)

Firing up is fine, if done sparingly and in the least stressful way possible. Usually, introducing them to a mirror for a quick second should get them "fired up." Firing up is when a chameleon is showing dominance, usually when a male sees another male. They show their best colors to try to intimidate one another. I would not recommend doing it frequently, as it is stressful.

My chameleon is weird i made him see the mirror, you know for a test, anyway he tried grabing the mirror and no color change at all.

Haha, my guy looked at his reflection for a second, then tried to escape off of my hand. No firing up at all:rolleyes:

my males wont fire up at mirrors either.

but they fire up at girl chams, each other, and me if i piss them off.

Mine fires up sometimes in the morning shortly after the lights come on. I guess he is not a morning person. I have showed him his reflection twice, once was on accident. He fires up immediately.

My ambanja fiores up occasionally when a cricket crawls across his legs.

His dulap looks like he's holding an ascar meyer weiner chunk inside.

I've never put him in front of a mirror as I don;t want him to get really stressed out, but may try ythis to get a couple of pictures!
