Female veiled acting weird

hi there,
my 7 months old veiled started behaving oddly. I moved hous recently and had to take her in a car, she hasn't been the same since. She wouldn't take worms from my hand amymore, hisses at me and constantly wants out. She has breeding colors on (they first appeared about 2 weeks ago), but she doesn't seem to have eggs, as i can't see or feel any. She doesn't seem to be interested in crickets anymore, and doesn't eat in front of me. she used to eat everything i give when now she can leave it for a while.
is she pissed off at me or pregnant? I'm confined and worried.

Hi! She could be pissed from the move. My girl didn't even like her enclosure being in a different spot in the same room! I think they get used to the view!

By breeding colours do you mean blue and orange? That could mean she's receptive and looking for a mate :) that could also explain her trying to get out.

She may become gravid with infertiles after the receptive stage, but she may not! Do you have a laying bin available in her enclosure? It's a good idea to have one at all times when they reach maturity. If she has a small clutch you might not even notice! They like to keep you from knowing stuff about them lol!

Thanks for your reply!
she has blue lines and spots and orange/brown stripes. Unfortunately her future boyfriend is only 3 months old ha, so she will have to wait with sexy times.
i got her a bigger enclosure, gonna assemble it today. Don't have a tray yet, perhaps I should consider getting one.
She seems to be pissed off at me, hisses all the time. It's very upsetting. Hope she likes her new home.

I feel your pain! My girl doesn't like me much and puts on a big show whenever I go near her (unless I have food ha!) you would really worry if she was subdued or lethargic, so take the hissing and grumpiness as it means she is a normal veiled cham :D

You will need to get her a laying bin ASAP! Egg binding is a fatal situation and is the end to so many females. Here's a great link to jannb's blog about egg laying. You'll find great tips there that may be the difference between a successful lay or not https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/jannb/345-egg-laying-laying-bin.html

As soon as she got those colours (and reached sexual maturity) she is capable of producing eggs :) It's a shame her bf is so young lol!

Hi there.

I actually went through the exact same thing. I moved house 2 weeks ago and my female veiled had to go in the car too. The first night she wouldn't settle down and sleep and the next day she prolapsed, which resulted in a 300$ vet bill :( I just left her for a day or 2...put her crickets in, mist her, gave her worms and fruit and just let her be and after that she went back to her normal self. If I went near her, she hissed and would turn her back to me. She no longer eats fruit from my hand which she did before the move but she still eats worms from my hand. How old is your veiled?

AngieL, I'll get to it asap, thanks a lot.

CamillaChameleon, she is slightly over 7 months old.
She wouldn't take anything from my or my partner's hand anymore:( Although, she still comes out and walks on me. I just gonna ignore her for a couple of days, hopefully she will get back to normal.

offer her a mealworm or a house fly(dont hand feed the first time). when zilla fell i pretty much had to buy his friendship because he was in such a bad mood. after a while they will adjust to the new area and should be content with you again:)
