Feeding Worms

Thump

Hello! I was hoping I could get some advice on the best, most nutritious worms to feed my 5 month old carpet Cham. Also how are they fed?

I just set them on branches and let them climb. If they fall, my Cham is good about going to the bottom and getting them. I like to let him free range. But cup feeding works pretty good too.

I feed superworms, butterworms, waxworms, hornworms and Phoenix worms

Hang them on the screen sides of the cage below the cham. They will crawl up into striking range.

If you live where you have access to a mulberry tree or two I would go for silkworms - very healthy and easy to hatch from eggs - I get 500 eggs (I have 3 chameleons and 2 bearded dragons eating them) A couple days after I get them I put a couple of leaves in with them - and switch the leaves out every day or two until I see little worms hatching- at that point I check the leaves every day to see if they have dried up - I keep a bag of washed leaves in the fridge- change the container weekly or so (making sure the new container is well washed - and I use a piece of gutter guard on the bottom) I recycle the plastic tubs salad comes in - usually the worms move to the top so I just transfer the top layer of leaves -
I hand feed them to my Jackson and put them on the screen for the Flapneck and Panther (or a branch nearby because they both hate me and will rarely eat from my hand) they don't grow too fast (like hornworms which are good but would hard to get small enough )
You'd have to go with small supers - Phoenix worms would work- those I use a cup for with velcro that I attach to the side of the cage.
