fecal sample how fresh?

As fresh as possible. You need to bag the sample asap, it cannot sit out for more than a couple hours. If you bag your sample and say, the office is closed, you can refrigerate it and take it in the next morning. Just be sure you give them the time of collection and that it was refrigerated. If you are able to get one and deliver it right away, sooner is better.

ditto to what frogg said.
The tech at my vet is very pleased (yes, she's a bit strange) when I bring a fresh (no more than a couple hours old) sample. Fresh is best. And while they accept a sample thats been overnight refridgerated, anything older than 12 hours she says isnt getting my moneys worth, as her results working with older samples just can not be as good. Possible to miss something i guess. 48 hours is the oldest she will work with, and only if it was stored well.
