“As for parking, everyone is welcome to park in the garage structure that is attached on the south side of the building. Later in the evening, the entrance gate may be closed but I have a card key to open it. Otherwise, there is plenty of street parking in front of the building.” The "South Bay Chameleon Keepers" (SBCK) meetings are normally held on the last Tuesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. These free-of-charge meetings are pretty much free-flowing, with all chameleon topics open for discussion. "Show and Tell" discussions are common. We continue to have group bulk-buys (silkworms, hornworms, superworms, crickets, dubias etc.) at our meetings. Some members may be bringing these feeders to sell but that's not guaranteed. Let us know if you are looking for these feeders (or anything else) and we'll try to confirm availability (pre-ordering) before the meeting. Some keepers bring their chameleon books and magazines along with other various items to spark discussions. We also won’t stop you from bringing your chameleons, young and old, big and small. Just keep in mind that it is past their bedtime and that there is stress involved in the trip. So if you plan on bringing chameleons either for “Show and Tell” or for sale (pre-arranged sales are encouraged) just keep in mind your chameleon’s well-being J.

Don't hesitate to RSVP with an email to: [email protected] if you think you might be coming. Didn't RSVP? Come anyway!

On your way and got lost? For this meeting, call Dave Weldon on his cell phone# 310-600-4793.

Our group ranges from long-time breeders to novice keepers. Lately, there have been 25+ members attending. There are usually new members at every meeting.

No guarantees but there are usually snacks and drinks brought in by some of the attendees. You’re welcome to bring some to share too!

See You There,

SBCK

(NOTE)
The www.chameleonforums.com has added a "Social Group" area that our SBCK members can associate themselves with by requesting an "Invite" (https://www.chameleonforums.com/groups/south-bay-chameleon-keepers.html). Our purpose for having the SBCK Group area on this Forum is to help SBCK members to keep track of who & how to contact other SBCK members. The term "Member" is used loosely to mean anyone who attends the free meetings. If you have no intention of ever attending any of the face-to-face meetings there is no benefit to being listed in the SBCK Social Group area and you will likely not be "Added" or kept in that list . This SBCK group area is not intended to replace the main Forum. Use the regular Forum area for all posts. Use the SBCK Social Group area as a means of locating other SBCK members to send PMs etc. Continue to use the latest monthly "Meeting Invite" posting as a place to post to the SBCK members that are also "ChameleonForums" members. There are still a few SBCK group members that are not yet Forum members but continue to receive their notices via the [email protected] emails. It also appears that, for the moment, Junior Member status on the ChameleonForums does not yet have enough "Permission Level" to join a Social Group.

Chameleons for sale at Tuesday's Meeting

Hi, I am new to SBCK. I have over 40 Kinyongia multituberculata hatchlings from 3 different clutches. I chose to breed this species to reduce collection from wild populations -- they have a very limited range in nature but are affordable to buy and well suited to our climate. I am getting near the point of selling about 30 hatchlings and two adult males to wholesale buyers but I'd prefer to put them directly into good hands -- SBCK hands! My hope is that by distributing my K. multituberculata in this local social network, we will have the support to keep their captive breeding going forever. So, they are priced accordingly for SBCK members: $40 per animal (Line B does not sell as single animals and examples of all 3 clutches can be seen in the album on my chameleonforum profile page).

If you are unprepared to capitalize on this offer l have a limited number of "custom" cages. They are ugly but extremely functional -- screen bottom, screen on one side, and open top that can be covered with netting (although I leave mine all unlidded). They will cost 10 bucks if you buy a chameleon.

Please contact me if you are interested so I can know how many animals and cages to bring. Call me anytime and leave a message if I don't pick up. You can send me a private message but please don't post a reply right here.

Thanks!

Man where is everyone!?

Sorry guys Mulberry doesn't have much... I am gonna go down there today and grab what I can but it won't be much. I can't take pre-orders... it'll basically be first come, first serve at the meeting. Prolly only have a couple of HW cups and supers and maybe some silks.

I am buying silk eggs and raising my own for the next meeting. As I raise them and they become available I will post in the classifieds forum so keep an eye out.

Howdy All,

I burned a DVD of a (somewhat) educational program called "In Too Deep". This 30 minute episode was about Madagascar. There was 5+ minutes showing mostly Panthers and a few seconds of Parson's. We'll show it on Nate's PC at the meeting tomorrow night :).

Is anyone bringing fruit flies? I just need one culture so I can feed my mantids when they hatch! Bummer about Mulberry being out of silkies. See you guys there.

I'll be there with some crickets and superworms and crack :D

Steve, I'm out of gutload. Actually I lost two bags of it when I was moving things out of the guesthouse when I needed to demo the kitchenette. Can I pick up a bag or two from you?

Also, if you have an extra box of crickets, I need 4 week olds. I'm placed my online cricket order late because I lost track of what day it was.

To those going to SBCK tonight... I am bringing combo light fixtures and various things that were donated to ChamEO. Some of the items aren't ideal for chameleons but maybe some of you keep other reptiles and could find a use for them. I might be bringing some old small screened cages also that I don't need any more. Would like donations for any of these items. The money goes towards vet care and other husbandry costs for rescues.

See you all tonight!

I have some older cultures. If I give you one of those, can you make a new culture cup to make them last? I don't have time to pick up fruit flies. I lost track of the days and missed my chance to drive to Van Nuys this week. I'll just give it to you.

That would be great, I have everything to make a new culture, just need some flies to get it started. Thanks!
