Elliot's Babies closing one eye

My Elliot's gave birth 3 weeks ago and I've noticed that around 4-5 of the 13 will close one eye every once in awhile. I don't know if it's an eye infection or if they're sick?

Here's a pic

Sorry I don't know how I missed the top part

For the most part, everything looks good...

How often are you supplementing? I wouldnt supplement with plain calcium more than 3 times a week VERY lighlty. Rotate cal D3 and multi once a week.

I would keep humidity >50% at all times.

Is this the same exo terra the mom was in? If so, did you thoroughly disinfect it before keeping the babies in it?

How often are you cleaning the cage?

Id go with only supplement 2 times a week very lightly. You can see the neck is a little chubby in that pic but not bad. Its possible they are getting walked on and maybe the eyes have been damaged. I would separate the ones that are doing it. That is about all the suggestions I can give:eek:

Good eye Cain, neck swelling can also come from bacterial infections as well. But that just looks more like oversupping.

It can't be over supplementing because I've only done it a couple times I think it might be from when they crawl on each other or a bacteria?
This is the exo terra mom was in but when I took mom out I cleaned the entire cage including the plants.

It definitely is not over nutrifying, you should be giving them calcium every feed its normal. sometimes my guy does it to and ive had him for 3 months i was worried at first but then he just kept doin it every now and then. sometimes when hes basking he does or when i stare at him lol i dont think its anything to worry about unless you see abnormal qualities about the eye

Only a couple times since they were born?

I would do as Cain suggested and separate them.

If he really has only supplemented as he says, no, it is not likely over supplementing. BUT, these are montane chameleons who are much more sensitive to supplementing than our more common veileds and panthers. Big difference.

One would be in worse problems if they took your advice for supplementing ellioti or a lot of other montanes if not all. They are very prone to over supplementation while low land species are not as prone.

Alex, I clean their cage about once a week. When I took mom out I used scrubbing bubbles to clean the tank and leaves.

Could be part of the problem. With 17 of them in there that is a lot of poop! They could be rubbing their eyes on leaves that have the poop on them. I would at least spot clean once or twice a day.

I agree.. One chameleon almost poops too much to clean once a week.

Ok I will spot clean. Could it be a possibility of eye infection or would that be both eyes?

It could be any infection. Closing eyes can mean many things... But this is fairly likely imo. They're too small to take to a vet really so this is about all we have to go on.
