Ehhh...

My mom surprised me with a baby veiled chameleon....any experts? He's doing fine. I just fed him four crickets and he turned a brilliant dark green. Humidity 70-80%, temperature 70 degrees will go up later.

Update. He found a loose cricket and followed it for a minute before eating it as well. Currently wearing green and he loves to crawl, especially on my head. Signing off due to low battery,

Lizard Boy
.

One last thing. He walks hesitantly even though he is on branches? Any idea why? Also he seems to fancy climbing the mesh top. Is that normal? He doesn't want to drink even though I set up water. Could it be that he just doesn't want any? His eyes aren't sunken in so he isn't dehydrated. Help?

Welcome to the forum and the world of chameleons!

Do you know about supplementing, appropriate temperatures, feeding/gutloading the insects properly? How are you providing water? A baby should eat as much as it can in a couple of minutes at each feeding (ikely 15 or more appropriately sized crickets).

Is your chameleon a male or female? Male veileds have tarsal spurs on their heels from the day they are born.

My cham also climbed the mesh top alot when he was new to his enclosure and it stood on the floor. Moved it up on a desk and now he is rarely climbing in the ceiling. I would say it's stress behavior

Awesome. Also what should the bottom be? My mom read for a "whole 4 hours" and thinks she knows things, but she believes that "all he needs is one tiny plant and a branch"..... Help me reason with her? Also it's kinda funny he stares at me when he's hungry.

Lisa still thinks I'm a troll. Some things never change. Anyway, I know about humidity and heating, and I have calcium with D3 but not the stuff without. Which one is daily and which is every two weeks? Also I noticed the Spurs and immediately knew it was a male, due to the crest as well. I'll send a pic of the enclosure so that
A) the people claiming I'm a troll will back off.
B) The people who are veiled specialists can help.

Chameleons do not drink from a water bowl.

You have to mist manually or set up and automated mister.

Mist by hand for at least 1 minute, 3 times a day.

I have 35$ built up, I'm going to make some more today and go buy either an automatic mister or a regular one, as well as proper supplementation.

Lissa, totally uncalled for. If we choose to bash every young person that asks questions "even stupid ones" where would this hobby be? It only creates a place where you cant get opinions or ask questions. Forum's are for support not bashing.

I do not believe Lissa is bashing him over his most recent post. There are previous posts by the OP where he was kind of rude to some people.
