Egg laying

I had this trash can on hand and it will fit well into my chameleons enclosure but I’m assuming it’s too small around for her to lay her eggs in... I know it’s deep enough

Maybe something a little more square as 11 by 6 top. Would limit the angle/direction she could be digging from imo

Your welcome regardless of what you use as substrate i would recommend putting a small amount in your bin at a time ( organic soil no fertiliser) play sand whatever) or combo and compressing it so it doesn't collapse and kept moist not saturated. Good luck

That size should be fine.
I would fill it about 3/4 full of washed playsand. I use the one produced by Kings that comes in a white bag with red, blue, yellow sandbox toys on the front of it. That one has never caused an impaction or infection with any of my chameleons. It should be moistened just enough to hold a tunnel. I don't pack it down.
Add a branch so she can get in and out easily.
