They are probably soil gnats and are the bane of our existence as chameleon keepers. There are solutions though, but not one is going to be 100%. I have 5 double sized bioactive enclosures, 3 leopard gecko bioactive tanks, a couple of bins of extra isopods and even keep my roach colony bioactive, so needless to say I can go crazy from the cursed gnats. vinegar traps. Am awaiting delivery of a few carnivorous drosera capensis (sundew) plants (ordered from Etsy) and when all else fails, I turn to using
Mosquito Bits. Sometimes in late winter, I’ll get some mantid ooths to hatch out in my enclosures. Of all methods, I’d say the Mosquito Bits are the most effective since it actually goes into the soil where they hatch and grow. It is safe to use for your chameleon. It is basically a bacteria that affects only mosquito larvae.
