OK-these eggs (1/2 of the 69) are 7 months old on 05/19. How do they look? All are plump. Can anyone tell me what the "whiteish stripe like spots" are on the tops of some? I have seen that in other pictures of eggs. When you shine the flashlight you can definitely see blood vessels! I keep thinking any time now I am going to see hatchlings!

They look good and well calcified I can see the the roughness on the shell. What kind of chameleon . Striping is a stage the egg is going through they are maturing wont be long if they are starting to get striping soon you will see droplets on the eggs.

Hey Julie,

They're looking good. Many of mine turned an opaque amber-like colour before hatching but not all of them. On one of the close-up shots your substrate looks a little dry but then again mine was vermiculite and sand mixed together. I would think that keeping the moisture high this close to hatching time may initiate it for you.

Also ... almost all of mine seemed to shrink slightly before they hatched. I didn't see much sweating but did notice the eggs getting a bit smaller a day or two before they hatched.

I hope they hatch soon for you. The anticipation must be driving you crazy!!

Some are turning that amber like color-and I added a tiny bit of water around the edge. The anticipation is killing me!

Well I think that amber colour may be a sign that they're going to hatch soon. I would think that you could add a fair bit of water to your substrate ... just don't make it a swamp!! LOL

I had a few eggs that didn't look as if they were going to hatch and I realized when they did just how wet the substrate actually was. It was almost swamp-like! But I'm just thinking that it may have to be a fairly significant moisture increase to simulate spring. I am certainly no expert on hatching these guys but it just seems to make sense to me!! ;)

The trick is to find other stuff to do and forget about the eggs. That's what happened to me. I was checking them every couple of days or so but figured that they still had a month or so left. Then I got busy one weekend and checked again on Monday morning ... the previous time was Thursday evening. To my surprise there were 9 little babies that had hatched over the weekend. Of course I was late to work that day!! LOL

Since they are all nice and plump I don't want to add too much water-I really have added a very minimal amount over the almost 7 months and I have only opened the container about 3-4 times. I try to forget about them-but that is really difficult to do! :)

So Julie .. and action on the eggs yet?? They should be starting to hatch very soon. Have you noticed any of them shrinking a little bit? You're going to be very busy when all those hatch!! ;)
