well i thought i looked at everything on my chameleon when i bought it, guess not, its been in its encloser for almost a week now and finally i got some really good looks at it for the first time since i bought it. Im positive it has parasites on its body right where its ribs are there are tons of little bumps more on one side then the other....

my question is how do i get rid of them, most things i read say the vet is the only way, also what effects is this having on my chameleon....

please help me so i can get things in motion tomorrow to help my poor little girl...

guesses to what this is as well

could you post a pic

the bumps are really small and havent showed up in any pictures ive taken, but i assure you they are there... is there different kinds of things that could cause bumps on her rib cage, all i find is worm parasites when i google it...

can you move them along with the skin or are they rigidly attached to the ribs?

good questions i guess ill have to handle her to figure those answers out.... ill do that tomorrow... they dont look like long bumps, just tiny little bumps maybe 8 on one side of her and 3 on the other side....

If it is nemotodes that are under the skin, you have some major problems. If that is the case i would print out the link above and bring it in to the pet store. Remember most pet stores do buy w/c animals and with that comes parasites. If your lucky and it isn't that , please still make sure you at least bring a fecal to the vets to have him checked for parasites, the ones you can't see because if he is w/c, he WILL have them and they MUST be taken care of if you want him to remain healthy. Let us know.

update!!!!!

ok i think i got a little scared and over excited last night as today i tried to get her out of her encloser unsuccessfully cause i wasnt going to just grab her, but i did get a better look at what i thought were parasites, today it was just the way she was bending and flexing to get away from me, it made the skin over her ribs wrinkle up looking like what i saw yesterday.

anyway to some of my relief im not sure if she has parasites anymore, today once she gets up high in her cage again im going to try to get her out again so i can do a good inspection...

any ideas for getting a scared cham out of its thickly packed encloser without destroying everything and or stressing her badly...

good news it took me about an hour this morning but i have a vet local to me that does reptiles.

Can they tell if it has skin worms or parasites from a fecal sample or does the reptile need to be examined to know for sure?

ok final update, so far so good, vet date is set and ill take the poop sample in then to...

+1 i got her out of the encloser no problem, climbed right on my hand, ate a wax worm from my hand before that, im really excited.

also i inspected her and ran my fingers lightly over what i thought was an issue its just wrinkly skin when she twists.

i thought handling her was bad, turns out its good to do every few days, and it gives you a better idea how healthy they are....

thanks to all that has helped me on my way!!!!!!!!!
