Small Black Spot On Sambava Leg

Hey guys,

I wonder if you can help me. Yesterday I spotted a small black spot on my young sambava's leg. This is the best photo I've been able to take of it.
This isn't my first time having a chameleon and I've never noticed this on my old veiled chameleon. It doesn't look like a burn to me and he would have no way of being burnt, I made sure of that while setting up his enclosure.
While handling him, it appears hard/ slightly shiny like a dried wound/scab would appear. So unsure if its a small cut thats healing?
After googling, I thought maybe its a mite or parasite but I haven't seen it move at all. There's no other like it on the rest of his body, just that one.
I've googled a bunch and haven't seen anything similar, thats why I'm making a post. I'll be interested to see what you guys think before I call a vet to get it checked out.

- His appetite is great.
- He's active
- His poop is healthy
- He's getting the supplements he needs

Any other information you might need, just ask.

Hey there so it is not a burn... Honestly it looks like a bit of dirt. Have you tried gently taking a wet qtip to it to see if it wipes away or if there is red staining from it like dried blood?

Stupidly I didn't think of using a wet tip but I did use a dry tip and it wouldn't budge and didn't leave behind a stain on the tip. I will try a wet tip though and update you on the results

yeah just do it very gently with the wet one. Could be something as simple as bug guts as well lol.

Thank you, I'll try it tomorrow as his light have recently gone off (night time for him).
If it is cricket guts, I will seriously facepalm. I work from home and see him eat often, no matter how many times I watch it, it still fascinates and interests me. Many times I have seen cricket guts and juice fly while he eats, especially the time he got 2 in 1 shot. I seriously hope its this and I'm worried about nothing.

I have watched my boy spray dubia guts more times then I can count. Hopefully it is just something simple like dirt or guts. Honestly I am not seeing anything that would cause great concern. If it does not come off then for sure keep an eye on it but it does not look like a growth either.

I want to give a big thank you, you were spot on!
It was some guts or dirt, after about a minute of gentle strokes with a qtip, it came away and my boy is looking good again.
Now that I know he's just a messy eater, I need not worry if I see something similar again.
