Edema or Growing up?

So I've had my new nosy be for 2 and a half weeks now, and he has grown a little bit, however, I noticed his neck is starting to look a little thicker and puffier than I remember. I notice that when he turns his head, a slight neck roll of skin pops out between his jaw and shoulder. Ive only had one d3 day so far and that was Sunday, I noticed this the next day. My D3 powder is repashy SuperCal HyD. Also, the Thursday and Friday before that though, he had eaten a few too many waxworms because I could not get any crickets of the right size. Could it just be fat gain? Or, could this just be because he is maturing? I'm working on getting a pic of what I mean.

Sorry they are blurry but it was tough to be gently restraining him in one hand and taking the pic with the other. I noticed it seems slightly puffy around his jawline and a few times he hesitated to chew & swallow after shooting crickets, which he hadn't done before. Also, I noticed the puffiness in his neck is only when his dewlap is fully retracted into his throat. His appetite has been good though.

The first two pics are too blurry and show the back of the head?? He looks fine in the third one and sometimes they will hold prey in their mouth before they swallow it.

yes they just puff up when they are mad or scared. If your cham has edema in the gular area it does not go away that quickly. What I mean is you would not see it and then an hour later it will be gone. I am very familiar with gular edema as I have a rescue cham who has been battling it for over a year. Your guy looks healthy and beautiful!

Alright, because, it comes and goes in seconds. I also googled gular edema and in all of those chams, the bulging was in a different region. Plus, he has been very active, seemingly happy, and eating heartily lately. So now, I am confident that he is just putting on a little weight. I need to get a more nutritious back up feeder just in case I run out of crickets. I believe you once told me I have new daddy syndrome, and I think it still hasn't worn off.

lol yes, you have it and unfortunately it never goes away! The more you learn about what can go wrong the more you look for!!!

certainly the case. D3 especially freaks me out because unfortunately I lost my first cham to a D3 overdose. He was a little Nosy Be just like Hawkeye here. The breeder had me using Rep-Cal w/D3 6 days a week.
